Useful technical writing and how-to content depends on the ability of the writer to analyze complex concepts and procedures, devise the most logical order for steps and processes, and describe these ideas in lucid, direct language. Most important is the need to inform and instruct user/readers without overwhelming them.
In addition to various projects for Springer Science+Business Media, I have written how-to and technical documentation for NACHA bank transfer software (American Development/Troy Financial), Chiropractic Diagnostic Programs (Brown Chiropractic), Medical Records and Hospital Admissions Utilities (InterMedHx), Employment Application How-Tos (HCA Healthcare) and EHR Compliance Product instructions (HCPro).
Working as a business-to-business generalist, I've also created internal memos and newsletters, specialty communications, advertising and handouts for professional conferences and even help wanted ads for interns and other personnel.
