Songs.com was a pioneering music site that provided online exposure and CD sales for some 500 independent touring artists, most of them singer-songwriters. As Senior Website Editor, I managed content planning and implementation for the site, which ran feature and background articles up front, and provided a separate page for each artist deeper in the site. I wrote a bi-weekly newsletter plus online features and PR materials, and supervised the front page refresh schedule, interviewed artists, managed webcasts and special events. I devised and ran contests and promotions, and executed marketing and merchandising strategies that expanded the newsletter subscription base by 30% in 20 weeks. I also managed the front page and newsletter editorial calendars, HTML design, e-mail lists and promotion schedule.
